LONDON (2 November 2016)<\/strong> \u2014 Kiran Jethwa will be hosting the National Geographic Traveller<\/em> Reader Awards 2016, in association with Qatar Tourism Authority. The ceremony will take place in London this November, with the winners appearing in the Jan\/Feb 2017 issue of National Geographic Traveller<\/em> (UK).<\/p>\n Celebrating its sixth anniversary this year, National Geographic Traveller<\/em> invited readers to vote for their favourite destinations, airlines, tour operators and more. The 2016 awards has seen an additional five categories added, and a record 7,957 responses \u2014 up nearly 2,000 from last year.<\/p>\n Pat Riddell, editor of National Geographic Traveller <\/em>(UK), said: \u201cWe\u2019re very excited to have Kiran presenting our second annual awards. As an up-and-coming TV personality with a taste for adventure travel and extreme food, he\u2019s the perfect host for our main event of the year.\u201d<\/p>\n Kiran Jethwa is the star of the Channel 4 series The Fearless Chef,<\/em> Food Unwrapped<\/em> and Extreme Food<\/em>. Regarded as Kenya\u2019s first celebrity chef, and widely recognised for his self-taught, adventurous approach to cooking, he\u2019s also a keen traveller. The Fearless Chef<\/em>, which follows Kiran as he travels around the globe, sees him discovering indigenous ingredients and extreme methods of harvesting.<\/p>\n In October 2010, Kiran opened his first restaurant, Seven Seafood & Grill, in Nairobi, which was soon followed by Seven Grill & Lounge establishments. Born in Kenya to an Indian father and an English mother, Kiran currently lives in Kenya with his wife, Sarah and their one-year-old daughter, Indiana.<\/p>\n Those who entered the National Geographic Traveller<\/em> Reader Awards 2016 were automatically entered into a prize draw.
