LONDON (15 June 2016) — National Geographic Traveller (UK)’s next Travel Geeks: Rush Hour event is set to take place on 5 July.

This latest Travel Geeks: Rush Hour follows on from three successful events that covered travel writing, first-timer trips to South America and Arctic and Antarctic expeditions. Each event was attended by over 70 guests.

The subject on 5 July will be walking and trekking, with a panel of experts set to share their tips on what companies to travel with, the best routes for your abilities, kit suggestions and ideas for solo treks and group travel. There’ll be plenty of opportunities for attendees to share ideas, ask questions and discuss their experiences.

The sessions, to date, have received overwhelmingly positive feedback. “I liked that it was informal, funny, light-hearted and not too structured or rehearsed. I also liked that it was just for an hour,” one guest wrote. Another wrote about the travel-writing session, “Really good insight and great venue. Concept is an awesome idea and nice to see editors so approachable.”

Maria Pieri, editorial director of National Geographic Traveller (UK), said, “It’s great to be able to meet so many readers and find out what inspires them to travel and hopefully give them some new ideas, too. We’ve had good fun working on gathering knowledgeable panels who can offer expert advice, and it’s been a really enjoyable learning experience for everyone involved.”

This informal series of after-work get-togethers brings together experts, writers, readers and travellers in an open forum to talk about travel. The events are an opportunity to meet the National Geographic Traveller (UK) team, talk to specialists, listen to their experiences and be inspired by readers. The events cover top tips, technical know-how and writing and photography advice.

The events are tailored to fit into participants’ busy schedules. Travel Geeks: Rush Hour lasts for just one hour, during which guests can share a drink and join in with the lively debate.
